Munchies - Another business doing it wrong
![]()
While I'm venting about stupid businesses and their idiotic credit card policies I'll add the classic blunder of a new establishment in St. Louis Park. Munchies opened up in the old Palm Bakery spot near the high school. Many times during my daily dog walks I have passed by with some anticipation. I live in a bit of a Latte black hole, so I thought this place had promise.
Strike One- The business opens at 7am - so clearly their not shooting for the pre-work dropping off the kids at school coffee crowd. It also opens later on Saturday and is closed on Sunday
Strike Two- They appear to only have drip coffee with little to no fresh pastry options
Strike Three- I stopped in on my walk only to find out that they don't accept credit cards, but do in fact have an ATM. Great they aren't willing to pony up the 1%-1.5% for my business but they are willing to take a $1.50 ATM fee from me for the right to let me buy my drip coffee there.
As the saying goes Three Strikes and Your Out!
Here's a little tip, accept credit cards the volume/revenue/profit that you give up in todays cashless society will more than make up what you lose in transaction fees. Also if your business model is put out of whack by a 1% slice you probably want to rethink your model.
Also: the name sucks.

Credit Cards
Why would they take credit cards? So few people use them these days! They shouldn't have to cater to the handful of people that use their credit cards on a daily basis.
