At some point in your life...

if you aren't a total waste of space...a buddy of yours is going to ask you to be his best man. Don't fret my friend, it really boils down to two things; one easy- the Bachelor Party, one a bit more tough- the Best Man Speech. Well fear not my timid friend cause I have created a template for a blow your socks off- good speech that you are free to expand and adapt...

::put arms around groom::I have known this guy for 15 some odd years and through out all those years I have never been ashamed to call him a friend. He is an all around classy individual
Now 15 years ago…if you would have told me that we would both be (balding) ::insert deprecating humor here:: I wouldn’t have believed you
I used to have a bit of a hair issue but that’s beside the point
If you would have told me that we would both be::insert accomplishment::…I would not have believed you. back then we were more concerned with basketball, playing whiffle ball till the sun went down and lighting off fireworks than studying.
But now if you told me that we would both be married to amazing, intelligent beautiful women… Well I probably would have believed you. …::pause for emphasis::
See I am a big believer in Karma, destiny, fate, I believe they call it chi or harmony in eastern philosophies…
some of your might know it as the golden rule…whatever you call it, the jist is
do good things and good things will happen to you.
Its prevalent in almost every culture in some sort or another…hell I think its even a law basic law of science,
So back to my story we have this outstanding individual in ::insert grooms name:: it only makes sense that somewhere out there
.. there is an equally outstanding woman for him.
Well its at this point in the story; that ::insert brides name:: enters stage right…look at her,
the beautiful ::insert haircolor:: with the intoxicating laugh and illuminating smile.
Now I’ve told you about this outstanding ::insert adjective of choice:: fella here to my left…well here he is ambling thru life, bettering himself and society when it happens bang…. a collision…..I’m not sure the exact moment when the collision occurred I am told it happened at ::insert bride and grooms first meeting point::, maybe in the kitchen…the bar…heck maybe even leaving the restroom…where it happened doesn’t even really matter.
What does matter is that it happened… you see this collision started a chain reaction….

At first the ripples were small and hard to notice…maybe all of the sudden ::insert groom:: wasn’t available for the all night video game binge
…maybe you noticed that ::insert bride:: was paying attention to conversations regarding politics…the ripples were still small…baby steps… but then the reaction started gaining speed…
Gone is::insert groom:: pony tail….gone were the tattered t-shirts…

who was this fella wearing the button downs and slacks he almost looks classy….

When I saw them together for the first time I knew my good friend was in for deep. The ripples had begun to form waves ….her eyes could pierce right thru him. She was bright and open minded but independent enough to keep him on his toes. You know the saying about making an honest man of ya. Well I knew from here on out ::insert groom:: would be an honest man. During on of our first dinners with my wife and::bride and groom:: I noticed that the reaction that had started earlier was past the point of no return. They had invited us over….. And something was off…what was it?….oh right …::insert groom:: and I were watching T.V. discussing social ills or maybe who was going to win the game that night. And ::insert bride:: was busy preparing an amazing dinner. I should have called ::insert local jewelry purveyor:: right then and there…. I knew it…. Here was this beautiful, smart, independent woman…and she was doing all the work for him…..done deal. ::Insert Groom:: was hopelessly trapped in her web… I might have even heard the bells that night.
That chain reaction that so many years ago transpired to change the course of these guys lives for ever reached a crescendo earlier this today… and a new reaction was started…
Anyways may that reaction that you two started continue to amplify… and may you have only good fortunes and happy memories….Its been an honor to call both of you friends and I look forward to many more years of our friendship.
